Fascination Poem by Gerry Freeman

Fascination

You never told me you loved me,
I guess it's not your fault you broke my heart,
But if you think nothing of me
Why did this thing ever start?
This life we lead is very complicated
And that's the problem I fear.
There would be no fascination
If it was simple, my dear.
Chorus:
Fascination, it's impossible to figure out.
Fascination, what's it all about?

I knew this girl, such a cute kid.
She had a crush on me, oh, right through school.
You had to want her and I did
But I kept playing it cool.
We'll never know what might've been between us
And I will never know why
She wasted her fascination
On such an arrogant guy.
Chorus:

We live in anticipation
Of all the magic that we hope to find
And searching for that connection
Takes up a lot of our time.
Embarrassment and angry accusations
Fly back and forth everyday
But don't regret fascination
It's just a game that we play.
Chorus:
