Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
...
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
...
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
...
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
...
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends

I do not love you except because I love you;
I go from loving to not loving you,
From waiting to not waiting for you
My heart moves from cold to fire.

Writing a poem is not about bringing some words together to create some charming sentences. It's so much deeper than that. Writing poetry is a bridge that allows people to express their feelings and make others live every single word they read. Poetry is to educate people, to lead them away from hate to love, from violence to mercy and pity. Writing poetry is to help this community better understand life and live it more passionately. PoemHunter.com contains an enormous number of famous poems from all over the world, by both classical and modern poets. You can read as many as you want, and also submit your own poems to share your writings with all our poets, members, and visitors.
Over hill, over dale,
Thorough bush, thorough brier,
Over park, over pale,
Thorough flood, thorough fire!
I do wander everywhere,
Swifter than the moon's sphere;
And I serve the Fairy Queen,
To dew her orbs upon the green;
The cowslips tall her pensioners be;
In their gold coats spots you see;
Those be rubies, fairy favours;
In those freckles live their savours;
I must go seek some dewdrops here,
And hang a pearl in every cowslip's ear.

Between going and staying
the day wavers,
in love with its own transparency.
The circular afternoon is now a bay
where the world in stillness rocks.
All is visible and all elusive,
all is near and can’t be touched.
Paper, book, pencil, glass,

I am so sad I was not enough
I wish I had left before it got tough
I walked away years ago;
you followed me not letting go
I stayed to love and tore down my wall;
I never knew I would suffer this fall
I did what I could so you could shine
and anything it took to keep you mine
I focused on you my love, my friend...

The best poets lived a hundred years ago—
They ate fruits from trees of words,
And drank from lakes of structure.
They had bones made from song

Why do people fear the pitbull
When the chihuahua is the most terrifying of them all?
But what makes a chihuahua so terrible
When it is so small?

Dear alcohol I know we not friends
You may not remember but we met back when I was turning 16
I was so young just a kid and didn't know what I was getting into
Even though our relationship lasted a weekend with no memories

Chapter 11: The Butcher At The Corner
The butcher at the corner was always trying to teach my grandfather new words in Italian. My grandfather was of Irish and German descent, but he always took the time to try and learn a few words so the next time he came into the shop, he could greet ‘Nick' in a few words from his native tongue. Nick in turned learned a few Irish limericks from my grandfather, interesting to be sure, but probably not stories he could tell around the dinner table at home.

Sweet and solid relationship between two long and
Intimate friends is always unique and beautiful;
Yesteryears and the years to come will be inscribing
A lot of indelible memories in their hearts;

Maintaining relationship from different angles
Is a tug of war between the mind and the conscience;
But it is doable if it is for happiness,
As happiness is the prime intention in this life,

My swinging moods more often ponder and ponder
That you may get into my mind to swing and swing
And sing a melodious song in the blue Moon;
Your charming face that glistens in the moonlight needs

I dwell
In the absence
You left behind

If you die before me
I would jump down into your grave
and hug you so innocently
that angels will become jealous.

I travel the world
Today in Japan, tomorrow in Rome,
Next day by an ancient civilization or in Hawaii or Coast Ivory,

The low lands call
I am tempted to answer
They are offering me a free dwelling
Without having to conquer

Wrapped with gratitude,
Offered to peace prone people
Who offer what is real-themselves

Lust is chaos, love is art.
