The Sadness In Us All Poem by Gerry Freeman

The Sadness In Us All

Rating: 5.0

Precious moments gone forever
Tender words all left unsaid
Like a promise that was broken
Or a poem left unread.
When we waken from our dreaming
It's not Eden we recall,
It's the sweet, silent sadness
In us all.

When our innocence was taken
When the colours ceased to glow
We could never have imagined
How we'd come to miss them so.
When the gods fell from Olympus
Somehow each survived the fall.
That's the sweet, silent sadness
In us all.

Life itself is everlasting
Marching on without a plan.
Each of us is only passing,
So much for the deeds of man.
As you leave your child in slumber
You may tiptoe down the hall
To the sweet, silent sadness
In us all.

Gerry, welcome to Poem Hunter! This appears to be the first poem that you have posted on this site. Looking forward to reading many more of yours in the future. This one is very well done, in my opinion.

Beautiful train of thought, well articulated and elegantly brought forth in good diction with conviction. An insightful philosophical piece nicely penned with insight. Thanks for sharing Gerry.
