Ukraine - Fighting For Its Identity And Honor Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Ukraine - Fighting For Its Identity And Honor

How much can one beg?
how much can one convince?
how much can one fight?
how much can one incite?

how long will this war go on
how long will the people keep on dying?
how long will the children keep on crying?
how long will the soldiers keep on fighting?
how long will the bombs keep on dropping?
how long will the houses keep on falling?
how long will the cities keep on burning?

will the leaders keep on the hostilities?
will they not see the people's suffering?
will they not visualize the pains and injuries?
will they have no sympathies for the dead?
will the have no empathy for the wounded?
will victory be their only focus?
will life keep on perishing every hour?
will the atrocities keep on continuing?
will the world keep on watching?

will justice ever find its routing?
will peace ever retrieve its belonging?
will homes ever be crowded with families?
will streets ever be full of action and activities?
will war keep on killing people mercilessly?
will graveyards have place for corpses of soldiers?
will war overlook respect and value for humanity?
will war ever give back to people their solidarity?
will Ukraine ever want to lose its identity and honor?
