Too Soon Poem by The Writer Way

Too Soon

I welcomed you in my heart
But I guess that it was too soon
Because you viewed it as four walls
And tunneled outside with a spoon

You left the rubble in your wake..
Popped capillaries with each quake
All of my Ventricles and Atriums
Still hurt from this mistake

This ain't romance, uh unh, no way
This isn't just poetic prose
This is a lesson my body learned
From the bleeding leaked in my nose

This is a physical realizing
That we don't have chemistry
This is the point where I'm reminded
Misery loves company

This is me building white blood cells
To have better defense next time
This is me constantly eating beets
To replace the one that's in mines

This is the antioxidants from
Blueberries just to replete
The strength I lost, from growing pale
Due to the hole you left in me

This is my platelets working now
This is them working over time
They're bending the laws of physics
But this isn't their first time

Because you viewed it as four walls
And tunneled out with a spoon...

I welcomed you inside my heart
But I'm guessing it was too soon!
