My Longings Poem by Mwihaki Kahiga

My Longings

Rating: 5.0

There was a time i longed for night fall,
Longed for the darkness,
The solitude that comes with it,
I longed passionately for the day to end,
For the clouds to fade as the crowds thinned,
I longed for that moment when i could shut the world out and settle in my little self made world.

But now i long for day break,
I long for the crickets and the birds to sing,
I long for the sun to rise,
For the clouds to clear as the crowds form,
Where i can peep and point you out of the many,
I long to see your beautiful smile,
That shines across and brightens my day.

There was a time i longed for the rain.
To hide my tears and pain,
To wash away desperation and want,
But now i long for the rains,
Because i know we can run wild and play,
Soak wet and dance in it,
Refresh our joys and peace in it,
I long and long and i long for the rains not to hide anymore but for the fun we can have in it.
