Innocence (2011) . Poem by Dennis Green

Innocence (2011) .

Whilst empathy and compassion
are beauties of a human fashion
once made explicit to the eye
tis innocence would make them cry.
Is never garrulous or knowing
but pure unguarded nature flowing
beneath the heart's defensive veil
ephemeral as vapor trail.
Upon a tender context ground
the latent gift may there be found
unearthing thus prodigious treasure
at half the cost for twice the measure.
Magnificent shall be its reign
across love's glorious domain
where kindness is a nobler thing
and innocence most surely king.
