I Dread To Tread Montgomery Street Poem by Tapera Makadho

I Dread To Tread Montgomery Street

Rating: 5.0

I dread to tread Montgomery street
Broken are the soles of my moccasins
I dread the shrapnel and the shards of time
Now scattered upon my once beloved
Montgomery street
Lest they prick my feet

I dread the whirlwinds
Fraught with dust
Lest they encircle me with the halo of dust

I dread to tread Montgomery street
They will ask for a song
But broken are the strings to my guitar
I have not the temerity to strum loose the strings

I dread to tread Montgomery street
Their uncouth artists
Painted in their hearts and minds
Graffiti and identikits of my persona.
