Fireflies In The Night Poem by Tapera Makadho

Fireflies In The Night

They waft and burn
Spreading wings by night
And by day disappear
Like flickering dreams
Along with their gleams
They're fireflies bereft of fire
They eerily appear bright
In the shroud of twilight
Beguiled by their wings
And their false swings
But when daytime comes
They vanish into nothingness.

I love that line, 'Beguiled by the wings and false swings.' I see this poem as a metaphor for the counterfeit. You think there is light there...but if you look closer it doesn't burn and it disappears... Well done.
