Enemy Of Our Time. Poem by Monkals Kalu

Enemy Of Our Time.

From far away city,
City with cultural relics,
Rich enough to engage
Even the most rigid tourist,

You reysed, like a peckish
Raptor, choking weak lungs
To a huddle fall, as if humanity
Took a treasure from you, hence
This pandemic outbreak of grippe.

Your reign has humbled
The mighty and trembled
The feeble to their knees,
Everyone now looks up the
Heaven's way for divine help.

From the Province of Hubei,
Your fame rose through the
Twilight of East Lake in Wuchang,
And the gushing brown waters of
The Yangtze River to the entire world.

Social distancing and
Self isolation is now an
Everyday practice; No sneezing,
No coughing, we can't shake hands.
Everyone's on lockdown just to curb You.

Could anyone have imagined
That a time as this would come?
World economy is at a standstill.
This is absolutely Unbelievable!
Look how the agony of Wuhan has
Hit the world so hard and unprepared.
Such a gruesome Enemy Of Our Time!
