Empty Shadow Poem by Melati Hussein

Empty Shadow

There’s no difference between me and anyone else
Only I don’t have a shadow
It was eaten by expectations
Like the moths that gnaw holes
The inevitable steps
I will…I might…maybe…silence
Wet feet and esteem down the drain
Sometimes I think I might look for my shadow
Sometimes I think I might run away too
So many words, thoughts at cross corners
Quality is missing in the flow and judder
Love was missing between each other
In one direction, maybe
