Demon Station Poem by Simbarashe Raymond Mudukuti

Demon Station

My demon is so accommodative
With emphasis
That's what I like about it
But I hate it more
Im tired of living with it though
It's always inviting more
More of itself and never of my choice
Each with a certain characteristic that I love
And most of it I hate
It's like liking a toy inside that bad salt n vinegar snack bag
But here I stand
Petting my back
On how I told the devil "no I don't accommodate"
With confidence
It's like that time a kid hates broccoli
So u grind it n they say this is good
After saying they would rather die than eat broccoli
If there is more of them in me
Than what makes me
Then the real question is
Am I the driver of this train?
Or was I destined to be railed into disaster
Funny ain't it?
Now that's life
