8am, Suit And Tie Poem by Simbarashe Raymond Mudukuti

8am, Suit And Tie

As I go to work
My neighbour's kid envies me
I've enslaved myself in this capitalistic prison
Does he know?
Serving a life sentence
No rest for the income earners
You rest when you die
Debt accruals
But isn't education a life saver
So I thought
As long as I'm alive so serve I should
Serve both my superiors and my sentence
Double sentencing
What can I do to buyout this life sentence?
The judgment was already passed
1 May get celebrated if they succeed
Getting remembered
It's like the most powerful dead man
He ain't important
But is there really a way out
A prisoner for life
