Blind Sunset Poem by Jon Holloway

Blind Sunset

Blind sunset

The burning heat is softening
A fading presence is simmering
Birds change their song
The warmth is not so strong

A cold flash against your face
As a gull glides past in silence
A chill begins to creep
Soon there will be sleep

The lawnmower's humming has stopped
A new scent is growing in strength
Bonfire smoke spices the air
A cool breeze stirs your hair

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was sitting in a chair in the garden with my eyes closed, it was mid summer, I felt a coldness across my face which caused me to open my eyes. I sat there for a while contemplating life without sight.
