You Began With Me Poem by Anji Carter

You Began With Me

Rating: 5.0

No matter how far you go from me in this life -
You began with me.
My breaths gave you your first taste of air,
My heart pumped my blood into your veins
And gave you your first taste of life.
My energy nursed the egg that was you,
Hatching it into the warmth of my womb.
My body opened to let you out into the world,
Where my eyes looked upon you with love for the first time in your life -
And always will.
No matter how far you go from me in this life -
You began with me!
