World Moves On Amidst The Disasters Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

World Moves On Amidst The Disasters

How will the world move on?
A war in Ukraine with incessant shelling and bombing,
a missile attack on so many buildings and apartments every day;
a rocket launch in a school, hospital and a supermarket,
a thousand more dead every month;
how will life move there on without any anguish?

An earthquake in Afghanistan
a volcano eruption in La Palma, Spain;
a moment of economic crisis in Sri Lanka
a moment of forest fires in Portugal and Australia;
a flooding in Bangladesh and Assam
a building collapse in Mumbai every season;
how will life move on without tragedies?

A series of meetings to stop the Ukraine war;
a population with mal-nutrition in Ethiopia;
a shooting of school kids in America
a mass-shooting of people occurs anywhere;
a murder every day in a some city or some neighborhood
a bomb blast in any mosque so suddenly;
how will life move on without worries?

A heart of courage so lacking in compassion
a mind of peace so lacking in solace;
a hand of generosity that fears its own future
a pair of feet so unsure of where to travel;
a year so full of unemployment and losses
a time that is challenged by a global pandemic;
how will world move on without apprehensions
when it is challenged by inconsistency and disruptions?
