Where Are You Now? Poem by Anji Carter

Where Are You Now?

Where are you now,
My gallant knight?
With all your shining armour bright,
Resplendent, on your steed of white.
Who with a sharp and gleaming sword,
Would come to rescue at a word, this damsel,
If you should observe
She needed you?

Where pray are you?
That noble lord,
Whose lady I had planned to be?
Whose every wish would be to serve
This maid, who so enraptured thee,
Who with her grace
Had captured thee?
So long ago.

I lost you!
Hard it sometimes seems.
You are an old
Forgotten dream,
From days when I was still naïve.
And never could I now conceive
Just how one should address, receive,
A Knight of girlish dreams!
