Whenever I'm Near You Poem by C. K. Young

Whenever I'm Near You

Rating: 4.5

Whenever I'm near you
I cannot speak
For on the inside I feel very weak...
So I hide myself behind an invisible wall
To talk to you I don't have the guts at all...
But when we do speak I enjoy every second
To open up my heart has beckoned...
Some days I become very sad
The scars on my arms show that I'm mad...
I was angered when I learned that you belonged to someone else
The searing pain was worse than a thousand hells...
It hurt like a knife straight through my heart
You tore it to pieces, you tore it apart...
I cried tears of blood, tears of blood for you
Great agony I felt when my heart split in two...
But there is hope
For when we hug it helps me cope
With the pain I feel whenever I'm near you...

There is a voice inside my head
Telling me to talk to you now or I'll regret it when I'm dead...
With your perfect features and perfect hair
To complement you I would not dare...
Words cannot describe how beautiful you are
But when I look into your eyes I still feel far...
I know he loves you and that you love him
But in my mind there is a sense of grim...
I've tried many things to push the negative thoughts away
But no matter what I do the pain comes back out of the fray...
If you are around I will hide the pain
With a face that says I'm completely sane...
I do not know what you think of me
So will you just answer my one and only plea?
But I cannot ask you
For whenever I'm near you...
I cannot speak
For on the inside I feel very weak...
So I hide myself behind an invisible wall
To talk to you I don't have the guts at all...
