Unworthy Heirs Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Unworthy Heirs

Rating: 5.0

Unlock the mystery of bequest
inheritance is not about diamonds and wealth
but it comes with a thousand promises
of living by the expectations, by the hopes
of those who have walked earlier
on this earth's platform and departed,
not knowing, not expecting the ruins,
the disunity, the unworthiness
that can be cast by the selfish intention
of just one who will want to oppress others;
let him die a hundred deaths
than destroy the trust of those ancestors
who were born out of wedded wombs
though out of women from other homes
these men reared their children with noble ideals
and taught them to conserve the family home
for the future generation to walk with pride
through the gates of identity,
to cherish, to share and to transfer the heritage
to those who will bear the harvests
of the family seeds that are planted……
let them endure the bonding, the preservation
as you have failed to produce your very own children.
