The Sickness Within Poem by Anonymous Anonymous

The Sickness Within

Cause of the fall, sin seeps so deep within.
I dig inside and try to remove the guilt.
Still it seeks me out and covers me with filth.
Soaking inside my very flesh it cracks the skin.
No cure for this cancer it withers the body.
Settling to the very core part of the heart.
It numbs feeling and blinds all understanding.
Never releasing it's sinister grip of demise.
Burning sensations start to occur all over.
Irresistible thoughts and desires flood the mind.
Torment and insanity, chaos and utter destruction.
The cave of dark despair and agony embodied.
Eyes stinging outward with passion and pleasure.
Trickling corruption and vanity like a disease.
Lamenting and mourning by faith is the only cure.
To a God who willingly bore our sins on a cross.

'The cave of dark despair and agony embodied.' wow so much literature has been written upon this theme, and even more about 'The Cross', nice to see you have huge themes in your sights :)
