Prayer Of Repentance Poem by Anonymous Anonymous

Prayer Of Repentance

Rating: 5.0

Filled with grief, consumed by gloom,
Who shall save me from this impending doom?
How can I go forward? How can I move on?
Lord by and by, will I forget what has forgone?
How could I ever look upon your face?
Sinner of wretched thoughts now I turn to your grace.
Filled with sorrow for the things I wrought,
I did not listen to the things you taught.
Absolve me oh Lord I beg and plead,
Take hold of my hand and let me follow your lead.
Unworthy of gifts, unworthy of your love,
Yet you give it freely from your pure white dove.
I draw nigh to thee and cleanse my hands;
No longer will I purposely forget your commands.
I am no longer controlled by this dreadful sin;
I can feel the joy only because you are within.
You wash away all infirmities to my soul,
I let go of my own and give you all the control.
My heart in shambles broken by choices,
I can still hear these wicked mundane voices.
I pray to thee oh Lord, clog mine ears,
Weak and dismayed from constant thoughts and fears.
God forbid, lest I be not redeemed by you,
Please Lord let me be like the accepted few.
My wits have all but gone away into the pit,
I know nothing except all the sins I have commit.
Every night I drench my bed with tears,
Sick and tired of reaping the overflow of tares.
My Lord on high I repented to thee,
I once stood exalted of myself, now I fall to my knee.
Here I am afflicted and mourning;
Send me the benefaction of my mind transforming.
Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Sins cleansed and righteousness restored.
