The Past Remains Poem by Karin Elizabeth Martin

The Past Remains

Rating: 4.5

I came upon, a long lost thing,
forlorn as it was, it had beauty to me,
withered and bruised, it lay among,
the shredded remains, of an old love song

But dreams die first, with the exception of myself,
all my thoughts and hopes, idly gathering dust,
on the bureaus top shelf

Cradling the cherished thing, I now have a will to live again,
No matter where your heart may lead,
Always remember, the Past Remains....

The expressed well how bits of the past never really go away. The present, in fact, is constructed on the past. Inevitably thoughts will wander back. Thanks Karin.

Very eloquent and lovely...it is great to cherish the past rather than to be held in its thrall...Coach
