The Freedom I Desire Poem by Mwihaki Kahiga

The Freedom I Desire

Feeling trapped in a little village,
Like a bird whose wings have been glued,
And i would give anything,
For the freedom i so desire,
To fly away like a free spirit.
I long for the huge ranch in the wild,
With cows, horses, goats, pigs, rabbits and birds of all kinds,
I still dont like the idea of a dog,
But maybe for my children and their father it can be an add on.
I visualize the many trees, the beautiful lawns, with colorful flowers and plants,
Those gardens that sing of hope and peace,
I want them bushes and flowing water,
And beautiful lights all over when the night falls.
Writing my vision in big letters,
Of a home full of love,
A massive home, with beautiful views,
Where i can watch the sunrise and sunset,
And the stars from the comfort of my sleeping space,
With sliding mirrors for the special moments,
When nothing else matters apart from you and me.
My heart beat accelerates,
At the thought of the many beautiful days ahead,
When the past will no longer matter,
And only the moments will count,
Of building a future,
Where freedom will be everything.
