Tears Of The Youth Poem by Tesfaldet Ghebrehiwet

Tears Of The Youth

Tears of the Youth

Study, work, pay the price
Laugh, love, rejoice
Pain, gain the return
Pen, peace, no more gun
We wished and dreamt
But in vain
They came from the den
To kill our mind, destroy our plan.

Hands up, keel down
Keep mute, say none
Your pen is nothing infront of our gun
We are to preordain
Who you will be in the upcoming.

Meanwhile we wrote, they tore
We spoke, they mock
We asked, they denied but detained
We drowned, they laughed
Alas! We wept and cried
We became like the old, the kids
The Youth, who wail and shed tears! ! ! .

Really a poignant bit of verse set aside for deep reflective thought.
