Synesthesia Poem by dvn mvn

Synesthesia

Sometimes I wish I had synesthesia
so I can see you in different versions
red
green
orange
blue
yellow.
I wish I could visualize
the words rolling off your tongue.
Your tongue would be a rainbow,
as if you had just eaten
a whole pack of Skittles.
Your lips a bright, shiny red
your dress different shades of blue
as it blows in the wispy white wind
at the top of the hill.
Your hand flies to the top of your head
to keep your strawy brown sunhat
on your head
while rays of indigo beam from your hand.
You reach your other hand out to me
and I accept it.
When your palm grazes mine,
my hand explodes into bits of orange and green.
You pull me against your chest
and wrap your arms around me-
I can see my body flashing
red and orange
when suddenly I turn a shade of
dark green
as you begin to let yourself fall backward
into the tall gray corn stalks.
When we touch the lavender ground,
your bright yellow laughter
infiltrates my ears
and floods my mind
like spilled lemonade
at a child's stand.
I feel your warmth connecting with mine
as a big pink bubble surrounds us
and when I look into your eyes,
all I can see is our future together.
And it's all in orange.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Definitely give me feedback. Tell me what I can change- tell me what you like and don't like about it. I've had a poet friend of mine tell me that this work and my other work, 'You Sleep While I Play' are good poems. I also have another, but am reluctant to post- it is my poet friend's favorite. Tell me what you think- from my works, should I post it? Tell me what you think about when you read this poem.
