Sunshine Poem by Gayatri Phukan

Sunshine

Rating: 3.0

SUNSHINE

Sunshine is too proud
It spreads everywhere
Unsolicited entry
Is the character of sunlight
Sunshine has even spread upon
Those multihued papers
Blue-rosy-ash coloured
Crispy and so dear to me
Shoved up in the pocket
Sunshine has climbed down the pipe of the bathroom
It is too haughty
Is it that
Just because
You rose up turning red
We won't clutch our hoe
Is it that
Just because
You squatted on the way
Stretching your limbs
We won't go out

We would go out
Trampling over you
Would make friendship with you
Flying a colourful umbrella over the head
Would carry a handkerchief
To wipe the sweat
Would make Gulmohar or the like
to bloom along the roads
The cassia blooms would dazzle you
Caral blooms would crawl on your bosom
Sunshine, o sunshine of summer
Don't show temper.
