Stillness Of Being Poem by Al J. Cuesta

Stillness Of Being

Surrounded by strangeness, people are out of touch,
Worried times and a-worried minds
Keep them a-wondering, but I don't change
Occurrences remain a mystery to the untrained beholding eye
For keeping appearing, are mis-leaders and lies
He who knows best now is who who speaks loud
He who is strong now is he who stands proud
Proud for the accomplishments he shines on to the face
Of those who've truly worked hard, now they sit in disgrace
What is true in this society is not more than a fabricated lie
A lie lay so low under your bed, you sleep with it at night
Not even knowing they are affecting your dreams
The dreams of a-many, the dreams of a-plenty
The dreams of young children, the dreams of the cognoscenti
For those who preach they know do not
And those that do not preach, do know a lot
Enough to care silently and value peace
For it is peace we have fought for, for it is peace we don't spare

Surrounded by strangeness, people are out of touch,
Worried times and a-worried minds
Keep them a-wondering, but I don't change
The mystery in me still remains,
Never will he quite understand
Why they remain high in command
Never will she care more than today
Why he hadn't the courage to ask her hand
They keep ‘em always with something to do
Something to grab, something to send, some goal to land
No time for thinking, that's too precious now
Just leave ‘em wondering, who cares anyhow?
They got thing to say, thing to care for, but nothing to prove
So lets just keep quiet, follow the groove

Surrounded by strangeness, people are out of touch,
Worried times and a-worried minds
Keep them a-wondering, but I don't change
No I don't change, no, change I won't
Even though these times arriving may drive away the folk
Instead well talk progress and monkey-business
Who cares for values or forgiveness
Well I do, and I won't change
Not for wars or silly games
In spite of being all alone
In spite of not having a home
Surrounded by strangers, people out of touch,
Through worried times and a-worried minds
I'll keep them a-wondering and I don't change
