Sorry Poem by keith brown

Sorry

We came with our daughters, We came with our sons
We carried Our pistols
Our cannons
Our rum
We came in tall ships from across the great sea
Some came in chains and just longed to be free.

Were building a nation, we'll build it with pride
But
We shattered the dream time and a nation has died
We've stolen the children,
Taken the land,
The earth as a mother we don't understand.

We came with our culture our hopes and our dreams
We came without conscience
With
White man's disease
Invading a land of men black as coal
Just cover their bodies
Then
Pray for their souls.

We came in our thousands for two hundred years
We came with our prejudice,
Our hate and our fear
Showed no compassion only our greed
Raped the earth mother, took more than we need

Now it time to say sorry, show that we care
Whilst we still have time the
Earth mother to share

We're building a nation that needs to be strong
And
We can't build our future on things we've done wrong.

Hi, this poem was written for sorry day , which was some time ago, Australia apologised to the Australia’s First Nation, aborigine, hence dream time references. Aboriginal kids where removed from families and placed with white families not good for their culture or well being.
