Saudade Poem by soren Barrett

Saudade

In the mirror of my memory a piece of me that no longer is there
What remains in its place is a bittersweet sadness I'm unable to share
Yet it lingers in my heart as if still in the air
Happy that its memory remains
It's absence engraves my soul with tender pains
A reminiscence that all my energy drains
A continual longing, I miss it so much
Wishing that now could be such
Yet it lies in a time that I can no longer touch
Mournful that it could not last
It seems that it all went too fast
And I'm filled with a wistful yearning to return to that past
