Reconstructive Reformation Poem by Preston Simmons

Reconstructive Reformation

Poetry carries new knowledge by a handle
To the front lines
Of our minds.
Some people grab that handle
And pass it along. It graces the air,
Frigid or fervent,
To the ears of anyone
who will listen.
Poetry doesn't know loneliness,
She doesn't know pain.
She is the written aid
Of many things,
While only having the misfortune
Of being marked
With these subjects.

An idea is a reconstruction
of words
And poetry is a reformation
of those words.
We reform ourselves
Along with our poetry
In the
minutes and hours
That we write it.
Poetry is
An explanation
That we reform
Again and Again.
