Overcome

Rating: 5.0

Pleasures of sin for a season call out my name.
I try to hide my face and bury all my shame.
Soul sorely vexed from the voices of the night.
They come in waves completely out of sight.
They move to and fro on the hunt for my heart.
Once they have it they begin to tear it apart.
Again I seek a shelter but the doors are closed.
Leaving me naked and alone flesh fully exposed.
They screech with a loud hiss, "The time is now! "
"Don't think for a moment that you've forgotten how! "
I try to resist but my conscience is seared.
All hope for my salvation has disappeared.
Giving in daily to this unholy lust.
Causes my mind to be covered in rust.
They bite hard and slash with their claws.
Looking far and wide for the many flaws.
When found they drive me through with their horns.
Then wrap me around with innumerable thorns.
This sin of desire so enticing, I'm forced to succumb.
Escape is futile and it seems the hour has come.
Together they drag me by the heel of my feet
It seems I'm getting closer I can feel the heat.
My mind in shambles blood pumping swift.
Time slows down and I begin to drift.
Alas, the final step is here.
They tell me to give in to the fear.
They let go of my body and I fall into the pit.
It's what I deserve for being a hypocrite.
The fall of eternity for my constant failing
No more words to speak just the sound of whaling.
Eyes closed shut seeking to bear the pain.
No way out no way in, forever darkness will I remain.
