Poetic Journey - Poem Inspired By Poet Bri Edwards

Rating: 4.3

I am "new" in this site as you can see
With a few friends I can count on my hands
They were nine but there's only eight I see
One has left, I don't know where he has gone

I have Jez, Rose Marie, Kumarmani
Practicing Poetess and Loza Wills
There's also Bernard, Sylvia and Rini
And Robert Smith Who is gone from my list

I have not submitted any bio
Just my name and the place where I am from
And my age as of now is forty two
You can ask if you have any question

I started writing back in college days
In our English class where I specialized
But that was long ago much have been missed
The knowledge I learned I have to refresh

Two thousand thirteen I begun again
To write poetry like I did back then
I registered in a poetry site
From there my poetic journey have rise

I came to Poem Hunter late last year
And since then writing has been such a thrill!
Met new friends who shared the same interest
Some are genius in poetic device

This morning I saw a message in my inbox
It was from a poet by the name of Bri Edwards
Though we never met I've read a little about him
He is one of the few who is so entertaining

From witty poems to humorous ones
His works are praiseworthy always a fun
To read the thoughts in his poetic display
Never a dull moment when you read something from Bri

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

(continued) ..stanza 1 (again) : i prefer punctuation, which i try to use consistently in my poems as though i'm writing prose-but-in-poetic-disguise. the lack of punctuation or poor punctuation sometimes really irks me in poems, but not for this one; yours is still understandable and easy to follow! stanza 2: again there's vs there're. :) .... i think who, not Who. ha ha..or did you capitalize for emphasis? i sometimes capitalize whole words to show MY emphasis. (cont.) ..stanza 3: looks good! ......stanza 4: much have been missed.....i think i'd write: much i have forgotten stanza 5: began, not begun. i could never achieve the mastery of another language! ! and verb tenses would be a HUGE problem if i were learning English NOW! ! (continued) ..

(cont.) ..I respect those who do well writing in their 2nd or 3rd or? language; i'm assuming this poet has a first language which is not English. :) [i have not even mastered English! ] ...............more on stanza 5: perhaps journey has risen OR did rise. (cont.) .. [[ i used to write some very long comments without using to continue, but PH has changed the rule of length, not too long ago]] (cont.)

(cont.) ..stanza 6: i always use PoemHunter as it shows at the top of this page. but some others use Poem Hunter. i'm glad for you that you are thrilled with your decision to join PH. :) stanza 7: i like it! ! but here: we never met I've i suggest we'd (for we had) , not we, and a comma used between met and I've. (continued) ..BUT I have now noticed that you did use ONE punctuation mark...in stanza 6! yes, and an exclamation point! ! [thrill! ] and you used quotation marks once; are they punctuation? ? and you used several commas and apostrophes; well just one apostrophe. ;) stanza 8: always a fun..try: always fun OR maybe: always hilarious! (cont.) .. always a fun
