Pinwheel Spin Poem by Pasquale DiMeola

Pinwheel Spin

Let us pretend as children will
We are all void from the element of hate
EVERYTHING IS BIGGER THAN NORMAL
As timeeee slowlllly dragggsss onnnnn
Nothing is off limit to becoming a playground
Energy is at its most maniacal pace
Unlimited sound ceilings for the decibel range
Group mayhem instead of group thought
All are invited to the mud pie feast
Winds blow wildly as dogs and cats frolic
Butterflies in the daytime and lightning bugs at night
Adolescence rules for infinity
Until..suddenly
An adult yells "POLITICS".
And the roller coaster vision of camaraderie
Evaporates into the grinding machine of maturity
Subjecting the spinning pinwheel
To a mundane stillness.
