A Russian Treasure Poem by Pasquale DiMeola

A Russian Treasure

Rating: 5.0

One envisions a swirl of mayhem
With an oceanic perpetuity splashing
Against the involuted classes marching
Stoically providential as in the masterpiece
Repin's 'Religious Procession in the Kursk Guberniya'
To what destination awaiting fulfillment
Freezing vodka and a boiling samovar
Tempered by the revolution of Slavic spirit
Somehow never abandoning its true mistress
Whose love of verse transcends all creeds
Discovering an unknown poem by Pushkin
Worth all the gems of a Faberge egg.

HI, Pasquale. A fine expression of Russian love of poetry. The last three lines are perfect and I like the opening swirl of mayhem.
