On My Mind Poem by The Writer Way

When talking to you there's a smile on my face
Knowing that you are right there with me calms my mind and my pace
You rest peacefully in my mind during the times that you're away
"Please don't let my other thoughts awake you" is the thing that I pray...
Because they've been running around, like kids at play, and the truth's
I've been tryna be stern with them.. But I don't know what to do
While acknowledging them is new, so I start making up some rules
In hopes of keeping them grounded so they'd stop bumping into you
...It doesn't work.
So now my method is to just let them be kids..
Though, you were resting, we'll get to see your response or if you'll "ig"
Then I'll gauge what to do from there... To play my cards? ... Could I renig
And get away with it? Should we have a play date with our kids? ?
Truth be told... I'm still afraid of our creative privileges...
In other words, our potential for what we could make of this
But, I don't know another option, so I'm looking at you fairly
Being honest with myself... Realizing where all these fears meet.
