No Place I'D Rather Be Poem by Robert Peacock

No Place I'D Rather Be

When I wake up in the morning
I’m use to laughter and a smile
But now sadness and depression
Have become your only style

When we walk together
I can still feel your hand
But something seems so different
And I try to understand

I look into your eyes
And see a vacant stare
They still look so beautiful
But you’re just not there.

When we make love
It still feels great to me
Then I see you struggling
To let your spirit run free

Everything you like to do
Has now become a task
I’m always here to help
But you won’t ever ask

You won’t reach out
To family or a friend
You’d rather suffer quietly
And then try to pretend

You’re worried that you’re lost
And never coming back
But I’ll be right here beside you
When you get yourself on track

Until you find yourself again
And the darkness goes away
Please try to see the beauty
God puts in every day

Don’t waste an ounce of energy
Worrying yourself about me
Because even at your worst
There’s no place I’d rather be
