Lady On The Platform Poem by Lekshmy Sreekumar

Lady On The Platform

Rating: 5.0

Despair in her eyes!
Anguish in her face!
Weakness!
Blindly she moved.
On the platform.

Silver beads of her anklets
Danced rhythmically
To the feeble refrain
of her foot steps.
Life to her, a dried stream!

Strong winds blowed,
As if to abduct
her tattered garbs,
In the morning sunlight.
Glistened her rusty hair.

Brimming with the nectar
Of innate mercy
Was she a bud,
just opened?
Stealthily she walked!

Veiling,
the present
into memories,
The train glided,
On the rails.

With a howling sound.
It rushed with,
the passengers of dreams!
Dreams, portrayed by
the varied shades of life.

Did her heart beated
to tell something,
A story untold.
Maybe, of a pretty fly,
Trapped in the golden cobs.

Stealthily she walked
On the platform.
Sound of the engine,
Did not wake her up
from her thoughts, .

Nor did it, wake up the,
thin creature.
Leaning back,
on to her shoulders.
Sleeping peacefully!

The baby, with one hand,
tightly clasped his mother.
Leaving the other free
To search for someone,
Never-ending search!
