Kolatkar Poems Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Kolatkar Poems

Kolatkar Is Abusive

As he keeps abusing
In his poetry,
Cannot saddle his tongue

And is indecent and uncouth,
Soddy and clumsy
In his poetry.

The failed commercial artist
Takes wine too
At the ale-shop.

The Myth In Kolatkar

His myth is one of
Khadoba,
The visit to it in Jejuri.

Jejuri is Like The Ganga Sagar Mela Visit

A series of poetic fragments
Full of faith not,
But faith and doubt,
Skepticism in faith,
Faith in crisis and malaise.

The pilgrimage is not like
Up-hill by Rossetti,
But a Chaucerian humour
As discussed in the visit
To Canterbury.

And Kolatkar not a man devout
And righteous,
But a rationalist, a skeptic
And a leftist
Urban and modern
Questioning faith in doubt,
With doubt and suspense.

The buses going to Jejuri
And the Ganga Sagar islands
During the Makar Sankranti
Are alike
Full with old men,
Women, widows and children
Going to the Sagar islands
In shivering cold and frosty winter
Upholding illogical faith.
