As an Atheist, I concur with this sentiment, thought unlike Miss Dickinson, I think faith is a poor invention. Reply

A superb poem with a social moral message by the great Emily Dickinson.
A well chosen poem of the day and worthy of it too.

Thought of as an eccentric by the locals, she became known for her penchant for white clothing and her reluctance to greet guests or, later in life, even leave her room. Most of her friendships were therefore carried out by correspondence. I cite here Dr. Tony's comment: Criticizing faith is not good. the more we are educated the more we depend on God. Fully agree. Thank you Dr. Tony. Reply

There is no god Tony, never was never will be, man created him, now we know longer need a lie.

Im sorry but this is a load of rubbish, God is Santa Clause for growing ups, the more education, is the realization we don't need a god for this world, only ourselves.

Faith Poems

  1. Sonnet 141: In Faith, I Do Not Love Thee With Mine Eyes

In faith, I do not love thee with mine eyes, For they in thee a thousand errors note; But 'tis my heart that loves what they despise, Who in despite of view is pleased to dote. Nor are mine cars with thy tongue's tune delighted, Nor tender feeling to base touches prone, Nor taste, nor smell, desire to be invited To any sensual feast with thee alone; But my five wits, nor my five senses can Dissuade one foolish heart from serving thee, Who leaves unswayed the likeness of a man, Thy proud heart's slave and vassal wretch to be. Only my plague thus far I count my gain, That she that makes me sin awards me pain.

  2. Faith

'Faith' is a fine invention When Gentlemen can see— But Microscopes are prudent In an Emergency.

  3. Faith—is The Pierless Bridge

915 Faith—is the Pierless Bridge Supporting what We see Unto the Scene that We do not— Too slender for the eye It bears the Soul as bold As it were rocked in Steel With Arms of Steel at either side— It joins—behind the Veil To what, could We presume The Bridge would cease to be To Our far, vacillating Feet A first Necessity.

  4. A Woman Of Faith

I am a woman of faith To a one true God Depending, leaning and relying I run to You in prayer Whenever my soul needs searching I am a woman of courage whenever i am down I maybe tired, drained and worn out But i know I am strong To face the situation I am a woman in love with the Lord A woman of faith who believes in His love A woman of courage Who turns my sadness to a joyful dance I know, i can brave the storm I know I'll never be alone You bring out the best in me. To love, to care and to reach out A treasure that will never last..
