It's Not All It's Made Out To Be Poem by Raymond Farrell

It's Not All It's Made Out To Be

It's not all it's made out to be
The picture painted in school for you and me
The great sweep of history
The opening up of the new land
Europeans came bringing progress
And the rule of law
But slowly
The truth is trickling out
What the Europeans
Were all about
The broader picture its panoramic span
How they treated their fellow man
Their unbridled greed
Devastating all in its path
The motive that fuelled progress
With its wrath
Destroying species, annihilating cultures
But why?
To bring peace and justice by and by
The chance of that occurring from now to infinity
Has the same odds fornicating will restore virginity.
