Israel-Hamas Ceasefire - May peace Prevail Forever Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

O' Israel and Palestine
never fight again;
as so many deaths have occurred
as so many bombs have exploded;
as rockets kept firing
as people kept dying,
as soldiers got killed
what was all these worthy of?
Just to see pain and sufferings?
Just to see streets so full of debris?
Just to see huge buildings collapsing?
O' the damage and destruction so unfair
as housewives keep asking:
where is my home
where is my apartment;
families keep asking
where is my brother
where is my sister;
little children keep asking
where is my dad, where is my uncle
as they were all soldiers.
O' Israel and Palestine,
how has your vengeance helped you?
How has your hatred helped you?
Are you now satiated with your actions?
So never fight again
even if you are limitlessly angry;
let this conflict enlighten you
of the futility of enmity and war;
let this conflict encourage you
to reconcile your differences.
No hostility is ever gainful
no humbleness is ever painful;
so let there be incessant peace and amity
so let there be a little of give and take
in your reconciliation and attitude.
Let your educated minds make you realize
that war leads to deaths and damages
which is so unworthy and so inhuman;
and let no war ever prevail in this era
where consistent harmony can pave a way
by tolerance and mutual agreements.
And just like the Baltic sea and the North sea
do not mingle with each other,
but they let flow the current of the waters
on either side to keep continuity
of blessedness of seas and oceans,
likewise, Israel and Palestine
respect human existence on either side
and respect your own life and the life of others.
So that both nations co-exist with their own fraternity
while you comply with your own brotherhood;
So never fight again
as in such event of war and bomb explosions
so many deaths occur
so many valuable lives just perish
and the tears never vanish from those eyes
that grieve from the heart
for losing a loved one, they will forever miss.
