I Sell Myself Poem by April DOWN

I Sell Myself

Rating: 5.0

To function in this society
Is problematic
The legal excuses defeat me
The law so manipulated
We are existing in such imperfect systems

I sell myself to the masses
In anyway I can
The aim to squeeze into the spaces
Of society and hold the pretence

I belong, I belong

Platforms to distinguish myself
Out there I place myself
In the digital stream of smiling
Faces and false wealth

The more I yearn for
Uncertain normality
The more I undress myself
Until there is nothing left to hide

I am exposed and anonymously
People expose my flaws
In the hope that I will relinquish
My fight to stay in a corrupt civilisation
