I'm Writing Jisei - Γράφω Τζισέι
Like a dying fly
Under the midsummer sun
I'm writing jisei
Ήλιος θερινός
Σαν μύγα που πεθαίνει
Γράφω τζισέι
Didn't Basho say that every poem was like his death poem? The fly's slow, clumsy movements portend death. This is what one notices in the summer scene, being sensitized by one's own encroaching death.
