Kostas Lagos Poems

How can you talk to people about God
When you don't hear His voice in the cicadas' singing?
How can you immerse yourself in ongoing prayer
When the melody of crickets doesn't bring you in katanyxis?
...

The sun melts the snow

revealing the barren earth
...

-Father, is it a sin

to wear a mini skirt?
...

The rain

Has no beauty
...

Dear reader, you will find no poems or songs here

Only the jeremiad of a soul whose downfall is near
...

Make no mistake dear passerby

It isn't Deaththat laughs like a raven
...

Upon my gravestone shed not a tear

For when I needed you, you were never here
...

The cool breeze of spring

Does not annoy anyone
...

A priest who doesn't want to chant

A spider denying its web to spin
...

"Does she think of me? "

All the poetry he needs
...

Before death I 'm standing brave

but the mirror tells no lies
...

She speaks with purple words

a violet melody paints her voice
...

Sunrise to sunset

he's talking on his cell phone
...

Out of chaos order comes
darkness gives birth to light
in good intentions, evil deeds hide
and as we sing and dance
...

A big 'thank you'

to all you kind people
...

19.

Locked in our cages

We are seeking our freedom

The Best Poem Of Kostas Lagos

Whisper

How can you talk to people about God
When you don't hear His voice in the cicadas' singing?
How can you immerse yourself in ongoing prayer
When the melody of crickets doesn't bring you in katanyxis?
How can you leave the world's worries
When you don't envy a snakeskin?
How can you teach about humility and simplicity
When the life of the sparrow seems so strange to you?
Listen to God as He whispers
And stop shouting to others about Him.

Depth, humor, knowledge, its all contained In his poems. Kostas has mastered the art of concise writing, but saying more in the process! Is that not what great poetry strives to find, that burning core of enlightenment, expressed in words with mental pitch and human tone.

I would like to take my turn, and add some lines of my own, regarding the essence of Kostas Lagos' poetry. By 'essence, ' I do mean essence! His poems strike the reader with the truth, - there is no way around! The brevity of his poetry, it can only mean the amount of previous thought necessary to conceive a poem (haiku, especially!) Kostas Lagos, keep them coming!

Kostas Lagos Quotes

Life is a long line of sorrows with tiny little breaks of happiness. Then, we die.

I know many people who have the poise of a philosopher but a few who have such intellect.

The art of the clown is to hide rivers of tears under a pond of smile

The louder the laughter the more bitter the tears

Seriousness is a deadly poison that kills life slowly

Nations pray for peace but they declare wars.

Death doesn't scare me. It terrifies me!

Philosophy lies at the bottom of a whiskey bottle. Well, at least my philosophy does!

The first step in our journey towards wisdom is to accept that we don't have anything important to say

I had words of wisdom to write but I must have dropped them somewhere

Many people seek the truth but does anyone really want to find it?

Free is the one who has broken the chains of rationalism

Most people fear of living more than they fear of dying

Life and death should be treated with a kind of sacred levity. All the in-betweens can be treated with our usual unholy seriousness
