Half A Lifetime Of Sidewards Rain Poem by Eliza Cuihua

Half A Lifetime Of Sidewards Rain

Where myriad ships with sails unfurled do pass,
Amidst the trumpets' blare that echoes wide,
The past gives way to future's brand new class,
Whilst mountains and rivers in turmoil ride.

With grace and poise atop a steed of might,
A true friend and comrade, I'd call you mine,
And though the night be dark and without light,
I'll challenge destiny with my sword to shine.

The mighty river's flow seems without end,
Its turbid waters never cease to churn,
But we'll traverse its length, together wend,
Sharing laughter as the world around us turns.

The misty skies above seem but a dream,
As the east wind lifts our spirits high,
Bold and valiant, let us seize life's scheme,
For youth will fleet and time will quickly fly.

As dusk descends, the waves crash to and fro,
Ever reminiscent of bygone days,
When we drank and talked at the river's flow,
Asking who was fairest 'mongst lovely maids.

Amidst chaos and war, north and south collide,
Fiery flames from watchtowers fill the sky,
Though the chill of winter still abides,
Like shore bound waves, our lives ebb and die.

Why not strive for greatness on the battlefield,
Where trickery and guile rule the day,
Sharpening swords and donning frosty shields,
We'll emerge victorious in every fray.

Parting ways at Shucheng's flowing tides,
We shed our warrior garb and bid adieu,
Our battles waged through many lands and strides,
Devising schemes both false and true.

With our armor worn and swords sharpened well,
We'll conquer all who dare to stand in our way,
Our banners unfurl'd, in victory we'll dwell,
As Wu's lands bow down to our command this day.

Where myriad ships with sails unfurled do pass,
Amidst the trumpets' blare that echoes wide,
The past gives way to future's brand new class,
Whilst mountains and rivers in turmoil ride.

With grace and poise atop a steed of might,
A true friend and comrade, I'd call you mine,
And though the night be dark and without light,
I'll challenge destiny with my sword to shine.

The mighty river's flow seems without end,
Its turbid waters never cease to churn,
But we'll traverse its length, together wend,
Sharing laughter as the world around us turns.

Against a backdrop of drifting smoke and mist,
Our arrows pierce the sky, swift and true,
A hundred battles, each one bravely kissed,
As the fates of nations are forged anew.

Our soldiers clad in iron, steadfast and bold,
We shall not rest until the battle's won,
Our prowess unchallenged, legends we're told,
As we bask in victory beneath the sun.

Through the years, countless battles we've fought,
Innumerable foes bested by our hand,
Though now shadows have crept where light once wrought,
We'll recall our triumphs, where heroes stand.

The nine provinces lay but an elusive dream,
Glimpsed for a moment then fades from sight,
With every candle burning late, it would seem,
That sleep will come only with morning light.

Where myriad ships with sails unfurled do pass,
Amidst the trumpets' blare that echoes wide,
The past gives way to future's brand new class,
Whilst mountains and rivers in turmoil ride.

With grace and poise atop a steed of might,
A true friend and comrade, I'd call you mine,
And though the night be dark and without light,
I'll challenge destiny with my sword to shine.

The mighty river's flow seems without end,
Its turbid waters never cease to churn,
But we'll traverse its length, together wend,
Sharing laughter as the world around us turns.
