Golden Star Poem by Laurence Read

Golden Star

How is it that eveything about you is perfect?
The way your hair is always shiny
The way your face is radiant all the time,
The pout of your lips is so sublime.

The way you sway when you walk
The way you talk without speaking
The way that you seem at ease
The way that everybody you please!

You have a look that money can't buy
A look that others just envy
A look that is so much more
A look that I totally adore.

Not out of place at The Ritz
Or of any state ocassion
Well heeled and hip with fashion
You make us heat with your passion

A castle, a manor or a yacht
No place on earth you do not suit,
I look at you and I cry
Oh so, pleasing on the eye

If I could I'd wrap you up
and take you home with me
But as a thief, I would not proffer
What I have, I'd gladly offer

Because she means the world to me
I would not hesitate to say
one day, third finger left hand
Is where, I hope to put, a golden band.

The greatest gift I have to hand
Is my undying love for you
a love so proud of all you are
Angel, you are my golden star.
