Drowning Poem by Jayne Doe

Drowning

I struggle to swim in an ocean of tears
And the gentle pull of its sobbing waves

Come they say, as they lure me in
With the touch of feelings I cannot escape

They rock me to sleep
With a comfort only familiarity brings
Though I wish they were a stranger

But I know they are loyal friends
With a presence on which I can depend

So I close my eyes as I am taken
By softly sung lullabies of time

Drifting I go, destination unknown
To wherever it is they will take me.
