Conflict In My Religion Poem by Kiran Pillai

Conflict In My Religion

Rating: 5.0

I wonder what religions means to me
Introspection and Reflection it is
More than active worship or praise.
But, is introspection not praise?

Have been lead to powerful Gods
Moorthies that mean life to people.
Someone been granted a marriage.
Other been given a child. Gods do so.

Am I a Hindu, Islam or Christian?
There are codes to life in all of them.
Modesty, sins, dharma and karma.
I know I am all of them; but none too.

Wonder what it means to be a believer.
Wise ones talk it is awareness rather...
Than pure belief. Belief can be shaken.
Awareness may not always be shaken.

I yet love all religions and all texts.
Wisdom passed on through ages
Codes for us to follow our way to peace.
Yes, I find peace. I find love too.

Religion: I wonder how it got strict?
A mode where one is forced to bow
I know there is merit in modesty and respect.
But, something today is not following reality.

I am not against religion in any way.
I adore the Vedas, Bible and Quran.
They are marvellous codes to life.
Yet, why the dogma? Maybe I know not.
