Christmas Poem Poem by Kevin Patrick

Christmas Poem

Gleaming baubles dangle on the cedars dark green shoulders
have hooked their magic into the strings of my heart
they snuggle in their lairs of charming filigree
adorned in gowns of glittering silver
or coats of candy red sheen
they look peaceful, nestled in their dens
hovering, suspended in glowing static motion
arranged in motley rows and capricious gaily bands
silver bells and toy soldiers as neighbors in their boughs
huddled together in this festive melody
and my eyes are hugged in their merry warmth
sipping my Tim Hortons mug of hot chocolate
the air becomes tangled with caramel
and dewy maple
with hints of hazelnut and cinnamon
that perfumes the Livingroom with sweetness
and I trace the lights on the tree like a necklace
and place the wreath with patient hands against the door
then open a card with golden chord
reading the words of childhoods inebriation
and a memories of celebrations
the open words of peace and hope
"Merry Christmas! and goodwill to all! "
