My Garden Poem by Kevin Patrick

My Garden

Rating: 4.9

3 feet high, and counting parallel far and wide
My Garden grows and overflows with weeds and grass
their nimble arms crawl up my house, and neatly bind
as coats of moss knocks on my door with earthly mass
my bayview windows will have branches for silk blinds
down in my hollow I can safely lie and hide
and then no one will ever see me anymore
and I can sleep like happy bears with full stores

fences rot, chipped with roots of creeping vines
my patio begins to look like some lost ruin
Tall trees loom, their shadows tumble through the sky
Ribbons of sunbeams dance in golden illusions
A thousand birds make their nests above the trees
And warren of rabbits makes their home beneath the leafs
Sometimes a deer comes by without any reserves
The whole backyards turned into a nature preserve

Step outside and there's my own private safari
tribute to the days of primeval horticulture
when Time stood still and nature was in no hurry
and the beasts still made temples for our mother
for I refuse to cut a single blade of grass
My garden serves the days of the distant past
When all the world was an Eden and not a tomb
And I can live my dying days in fullest bloom

Enjoyed your poem. Especially loved the line - when time stood still and nature was in no hurry! Thanks.

This pristine wilderness sounds so tempting when concrete structures and manicured lawns are in vogue.Your Garden would be so lively with rabbits and deer roaming about and birds chirping on every tree. The winding creepers that make a natural curtain on your window will give your abode the coolness of a bower. You have made before your reader's mind the image of a sprawling vista of lush green verdure, come alive! Beautiful! A 10

We love both decorated garden as well as natural garden. We love all gardens across the globe but your garden is special as this has carried nice imagery for interesting poetic expression. Your garden is of course special.

Gardening is a healer. With the solitude it certainly works wonders. Creative words.
